Mac Femmo (b. 1998) is a Midwestern artist utilizing kinetic sculpture, photography, film, performance, writing, and music to pursue self-sovereignty under the forbidding grip of patriarchy.
Their past work processed the reclamation of a bodymind conditioned by violent systems, alongside a growing disillusionment with art institutions and the artists who uphold them. Rage is utilized like a pilot-light through incessant interrogations of that which restricts access to knowledge, creative development, and self-determination.
That rage provides the safety to prioritize healing and reconstruction. Femmo continues to examine what conditions are necessary for full access to the self and how systems must change to make that access possible for all.
